Saikhom Mirabai chanu is an Indian weightlifter. Saikhom weightlifter story is one of a remarkable rise. Initially Chanu bagged the silver medal in the 48kg category in 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
After winning a silver medal in Commonwealth Games in Scotland, She has tried for the national Rio Olympics 2016. Recently Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal at Tokyo 2020 Olympics in women’s 49 kg.
Saikhom Mirabai was born on 8th august 1994 in Nongpok Kakching, Impal Manipur State.
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu World Record
Chanu broke the clean and jerk world record in the 49kg event, and she lifted 86kg in snatch and 119kg in clean and jerk for a total of 205kg.
She also won the gold medal in women’s 48kg event by lifting 194kg in total, 85 kg snatch and 109kg clean and jerk in world weightlifting championships held in 2017 at Anaheim, CA, US.
Saikhom Chinu lifted 86 kg in snatch and 110kg in clean and jerk in total 196 to win the first gold medal for India in 2018 Commonwealth Games.
In 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships she won the Bronze in Clean and jerk at 49 kg event.
